She really, really had no idea what was going on, and at least hoped that she was not the inadvertent cause of it. Asking questions got people mad at her, and she would rather worry that she had been the cause than get yelled at for any reason. Getting in a fight seemed hugely unfair with the situation like this. Maybe she was not incredibly excited about the dance, but she did want to go… So the good behavior would start now. “I’ve sort of been a jerk to you enough already in the past,” she hummed, looking toward the wall to avoid eye contact for a brief moment. “But, uhm. We don’t have to talk if you need that rest. I’m the first person you’ve seen today for a reason.”
Tugging at the workout band which was keeping hair from her face, she sighed. It wasn’t that she excused Jack’s jerky behavior, she really just didn’t want her to be feeling bad on account of apparently not being interested in being anything more than her friend. “It’s okay that you don’t like me like me..I could probably use a just friend anyway.” Chewing her lip, she shrugged. “I’ve also only got up to use the washroom today, I think I’ve been resting a lot. If you have somewhere to be though, I don’t want to keep you.”
